Copyrights provide protection to authors of original works that are produced in a tangible form of expression.
The tangible form of expression need not be directly perceptible, so long as it may be communicated with the aid of a machine or device. It protects original artistic, literary (including computer programmed, compilations and databases) and musical and cinematographic works produced through ones own skill, labour, intellectual efforts and creativity.
Copyright protection is available to both published and unpublished works.
Copyright can be claimed in Literary Works; Computer Programs; Musical works, Dramatic works (including any accompanying music); Pantomimes and choreographic works; Pictorial, graphic, and sculptural works; Motion pictures and other audio visual works; Sound recordings; and Architectural works.

Copyright in a work can be registered with the Ministry of HRD at any point of time during the life of the copyright. Although, copyright automatically attaches when a work is created, registration is recommended as it affords the copyright holder to enjoy a presumption of validity, exclusive license registration, assignment, etc. In India, IP rights in computer software are covered under the Copyright Law. As copyright attorneys practicing at the Ministry of HRD, we offer our services in preparing, registering, managing, licensing and enforcement of all types of copyrights.
Copyright Registration of Trade Marks
Copyright in logo, label, get-up, packing design or writing style of a trademark can be registered as Artistic Work along with the trademark registration. This copyright registration can be claimed irrespective of goods. Copyright provides international protection. Criminal action can be taken in India on the basis of copyright registration. We provide services in this field.
